Land Acknowledgement

The Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society respectfully acknowledges that we live, work, gather, and provide services on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Secwépemc People, specifically the lands of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwépemcúl’ecw.

We honour the enduring relationship that the Secwépemc People have held with this land since time immemorial and acknowledge the impacts of colonization, including displacement, residential schools, the Sixties Scoop, systemic inequities, and ongoing intergenerational trauma that continue to affect Indigenous communities today.

As an Aboriginal Friendship Society, KAFS is committed to walking alongside and supporting all urban Indigenous peoples from many Nations who call Kamloops home, while remaining grounded in respect, relationship, and accountability to our host Nation, Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc. We strive to create a welcoming, culturally safe, and inclusive space rooted in Indigenous values, connection, healing, and community.
